Christi's work is driven by her personal experiences as a multicultural individual. Her Peruvian-Chinese heritage, along with her family's migration from different parts of the world, has inspired an exploration at the intersection of native arts with contemporary art. Through minimal sculptures, textiles, and installation arts, Zorilla Soto exposes the delicate journey of migration and the celebration of diversity. By combining traditional and modern techniques, Christi aims to foster dialogue between the past and present while honoring her heritage and uncovering her own identity. Through art, she hopes to inspire others to embrace their roots and recognize the beauty in the diversity surrounding us.
El trabajo de Christi está impulsado por sus experiencias personales como individuo multicultural. Su herencia peruano-china, junto con la migración de su familia desde diferentes partes del mundo, ha inspirado una exploración en la intersección de las artes nativas con el arte contemporáneo. A través de esculturas minimalistas, textiles e instalaciones, Zorilla Soto expone el delicado proceso de migración y la celebración de la diversidad. Al combinar técnicas tradicionales y modernas, Christi pretende fomentar el diálogo entre el pasado y el presente, honrando al mismo tiempo su herencia cutlural y descubriendo su propia identidad. A través del arte, espera inspirar a otros a abrazar sus raíces y reconocer la belleza de la diversidad que nos rodea.
About Christi Zorrilla Soto:
Christi is a multicultural visual artist, art administrator, and educator who lives and works in Bend, Oregon. She received her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts at the School of Fine Arts Peru and a master’s degree in Education. Christi’s artworks seek to find her own identity as a multicultural person by connecting the native arts and cultures learned from her ancestors in contemporary art pieces and exposing the delicate process of global migration through minimal sculptures, textiles, and installation art. Christi es una artista visual multicultural, administradora de arte y educadora que vive y trabaja en Bend, Oregon. Recibió su Bachiller en Bellas Artes en la Escuela de Bellas Artes del Perú y una maestría en Educación. Las obras de arte de Christi buscan encontrar su propia identidad como persona multicultural conectando las artes y culturas nativas aprendidas de sus antepasados en piezas de arte contemporáneo exponiendo el delicado proceso de la migración global a través de esculturas minimalistas, textiles e instalaciones artísticas.
