The Annex
Dear Mind Fuzz featuring Allie Blanchard

This body of work has been shaped at times by the exploration of my own brain through IFS therapy (in getting to know the distinct parts of my brain and their role in my actions), at times by the music of revolution, at times by political collective trauma and social justice, at times by absurdism, and always by all of these things in a very interconnected way.
But to be honest it's difficult to use written language to explain things that I can express more fluidly through visual art. And I often only figure out the real reason I made something much later, so who really knows what this show is about? Not me.
ABOUT ALLIE BLANCHARD:
Allie Blanchard (she/her) grew up in Florida, receiving a B.F.A. in drawing from the University of Florida in 2011, and an M.F.A. in painting from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2013. Her mediums of focus are drawing and painting, but she has also worked in printmaking, collage, and occasionally sculpture. Her work focuses on portraiture as an exploration of mental health and the mind, and as a reflection of social justice. Her work was published in the SF Chronicle in 2012. She currently lives and works in Bend, OR, working as an interior designer, and drawing creative inspiration from her love of nature, live music, mutual aid and protest.
THE ANNEX: A Scalehouse Project located in the atrium of Franklin Crossing is the latest program from Scalehouse Collaborative for the Arts. Through an online application, artists will submit work and proposals. We are delighted to support local artists with a space to show new works, gain experience and exposure in the field, and add to Scalehouse's mission of building community around arts and culture events.
